Sling Oil Tanned Leather Brown
About the Item
Each oil tanned leather sling hanging chair has been handcrafted by our leather artisans.
The leather is specially treated and made to change color when handling it but reverts back to its original color after time. Some areas will change subtly and gently weather and change to add a wonderful unique worn element to your sling chair.
A beautifully powder coated steel circle has a special bronzy effect finish, adds to the look and feel of the chair and compliments the 2 layers of leather. The edging of each chair is done by hand with a crossed over stitching detail. The weight to hold the bolster down is a heavy wood made from invader species and turned by hand. Most important the chair is an very comfortable experience. The sensual warmth of natural hide and its form-fitting comfort is perfect any indoor space.
The leather is ‘real’ / genuine natural leather and will vary a little depending on the animal and might have some natural markings.
We are dependent on what natural leather pieces are available from the different tanneries we source from, so each piece will differ slightly piece to piece.
There are differences in the animal skins that vary from animal to animal - some could be more porous or have more elasticity than others, depending on the animal. The season of processing might also influence the skin (i.e. more hair in winter than in summer for example)
The embossing, dyeing and hand carving varies also due to the hand made element and the variance of craftsmanship.
As you live with your product, the leather will evolve. With the correct care, the appearance of your newly-purchased piece will retain its beauty, developing its own character and patina.

In a world of homogenized mass production, slower designed, handmade products require less energy than mass-produced items and often last longer, reducing the cycle of waste in our “throw-away” culture.
The sling chair can disassemble and splits in half for flat packing – great in economizing packing and freight.

They are made from steel - so very strong and durable, E coated for rust protection (like on the chassis of a car) and then powder coated.
