Vintage 1970s Techfab Chromcraft Latte Lounge Chairs
By Chromcraft
Located in Chicago, IL
Vintage Techfab chromcraft lounge chairs. Original vinyl upholstery in very nice condition. Arms are optional. Easily removable. Shown with arms in last photos. In the manner of Herman Miller Alexander Girard, Charles Eames, Milo Baughman History of Arnold Defense From sprockets to rockets: Our diverse manufacturing history It may surprise you to learn that our company originally manufactured trendy dinette sets and household furniture in a large factory on Semple Avenue in St. Louis, beginning in 1945 under the name of Chromcraft, a division of the American Fixture Corporation. The legacy company manufactured a wide range of popular furniture and commercial goods, ranging from desks and record racks, to ammunition containers to skateboards and even a few carousel horses through the late 1960s. In 1961, the dinette business was relocated to Mississippi, and Chromcraft also began producing rocket launchers for the government at the St. Louis facility. By 1967, the company had changed its name to Techfab and had upwards of 800 employees who produced 3,000 chairs, 250 case goods, 600 cardboard-tubed rocket launchers and up to 100 aluminum-tubed rocket launchers every day. In 1969, the company was purchased by Harvard Industries, and the business expanded into electronics during the 1970s. They began renting additional manufacturing space in Arnold, Mo., approximately 20 miles south of St. Louis, so the electronics business could take root. In 1976, the rental site was purchased outright and had expanded four times by the mid-1980s. During this time, the company had approximately 150 employees who designed and produced many handy everyday items such as smoke detectors, security systems, hospital bed switches, CB monitors, circuit boards, fuel primer pumps and remote automobile starters. Over the next decade, the company earned more defense contracts for rocket launchers and decided to divest the furniture business. The St. Louis facility was closed in 1998, and the rocket launcher business moved to the Arnold location. In that same timeframe, an 8,000-square foot warehouse was constructed to house production materials and the die-cast fuel pump...

Pair of Mid Century Modern Ebonized Walnut Lounge Chairs in Holly Hunt Fabric
Located in New York, NY
This stunning and graphic pair Mid Century Modern arm chairs were realized in the United States circa 1960. They feature cylindrical legs that taper to a point at their bases. The front legs are straight, while the hind legs are slightly arched- providing the chairs with a subtle dynamism. The sides of the chairs are each composed of a single amorphic form- with a negative space that creates rests for the sitters arms and gives these pieces a wonderfully sculptural Silhouette. The chairs have been newly reupholstered in a luxurious Holly Hunt Great plains dove gray fabric called luxe trail elephant with Fine horizontal striations. These chairs are a study in the simple beauty of first rate Mid Century design, explaining why American modernism appears as timeless and compelling today as it did more than 60 years ago when these chairs were first created. Their clean modernist lines and refined palate ensure that they would be a winning addition to any style of interior from Classic Mid-Century Modern to contemporary. They have been newly restored to mint condition and newly reupholstered in Holly Hunt fabric...

Modern Maurice Villency Black Vinyl Faux Leather Button Back Cube Club Chair
By Maurice Villency
Located in Topeka, KS
Handsome vintage modern Maurice Villency button black vinyl faux leather cube armchair with chrome legs. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. The bottom of the seat has been re-webbed and two small tears on the outside left arm has been repaired. There are light scuffs on the bottom apron and the front of the right arm of the chair. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1970’s. What a delightful, debonaire, square cube chair!!! Isn’t it gorgeous? We certainly think so!! This is a handsome cube chair by iconic designer Maurice Villency wearing a fabulous black vinyl on the frame of the chair and button tufted black faux leather on the loose seat and back cushions. It has deep wide seating capacity and features low chrome legs with a stretcher and a unique turned diagonal design with the point of the square of the legs facing out creating a diamond look…. It’s STUNNING!! It bares a timeless, classic appearance sure to bring a splash of modern excellence to any room! It will be wonderful in the corner of your bedroom, next to a lovely accent table in your sitting room, flanking the fireplace in the den, or across from your desk in the study. Maurice Villency began designing in the 1950’s at his own furniture loft in Greenwich Village, New York. He was born in Glasgow Scotland, the son of a cabinet maker and at the age of 19 he moved to the United States with his family and introduced Scandinavian Modern furniture with one of his first successes being a sectional. He worked for the Pullman Couch company where he quickly became head designer and plant manager until he relocated to Chicago in the 60’s and set up his own studio. Maurice Villency’s sectional...
