Rare Mid Century Wim Rietveld Metal "Fold-Up" Arielle Daybed for Auping, 1953
About the Item
Rare fold-up Arielle daybed by Wim Rietveld for Auping, 1953. The Arielle arrived shortly after Rietveld's "Cleopatra" daybed. A sturdy truss construction was used to create a light and airy form but because it is composed completely of steel, it is incredibly robust and long-lasting. This daybed has a newly upholstered mattress. The back feet are designed to hold the daybed up against the wall for easy storage, and the front legs fold down as well. The measurements while in the folded position are 77" x 13.5" x 38". In original condition with visible wear consistent with its and use.
