Jørgen Gammelgaard Unusual Leather Foldable Stool, Danemark 1970

About the Item

This is an unusual leather version of the yet rare but Classic folding stool by Jørgen Gammelgaard (1938–1991) who was a Danish furniture designer who also designed lamps and silverware. Made of nickeled steel, the frame show clean lines, the leather is well patinated and gives warm feeling when you look at it. Perfect as footstool or side stool. Works great in a walking closet or any room. Can be folded. Early life Gammelgaard was trained as a cabinetmaker at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts and served an apprenticeship (1957) at C. B. Hansen's workshop in Copenhagen. He then studied under Grete Jalk. He was a visiting student of furniture design at the Royal Academy (1962–1964) working under Poul Kjærholm and Ole Wanscher.
