The architecture of the armchair is based on two parts, each able to swivel about its own axis. Depending on how the two chair parts are rotated relative to one another, the lower part can be used as an armrest, a footrest or practical shelf. Elegant buttoning and fine piping on all sides – quite in keeping with incomparable de Sede quality – underscore the impressive look.
De Sede has its origins in a small but skilled saddler's workshop in Klingnau, Switzerland. The craftsmen there committed themselves to transforming the best possible leather into seating furniture. Their years of experience and diligence enabled them to create handcrafted leather furniture of singular quality.
In 1965, the family-run business became a joint-stock company called De Sede AG, but remained faithful to their original guiding principles.
The company developed rapidly from this moment onwards: top designers of international caliber were brought on board to create seating furniture, additional manufacturing facilities were opened, and an international distribution network was established. Sophisticated designs that skillfully integrate traditional and precise Swiss workmanship swiftly gained the brand an international reputation.
Today, De Sede AG presents itself as a leading manufacturer of exclusive leather furniture. Out of the original small workshop, a company has emerged that employs over 110 people and distributes furniture in more than 69 countries, including the United States and Russia, the GCC countries, and even emerging markets such as China and Brazil.

A de Sede piece lends a strong personality to the room it occupies. One of the world’s most respected furniture design houses, de Sede’s quality Swiss craftsmanship has its foundation in a long history of making expertly designed saddles. Founded in 1965 to build on a successful family-run saddler’s workshop in Klingnau, Switzerland, de Sede now is a leading manufacturer of leather goods and furniture, including sofas, chairs and beds.
At the core of de Sede’s philosophy is a reverence for the complexity and beauty of handcrafted furniture in an age when mass-produced objects are the norm. Over the years, the atelier has built a name for itself in its modular furniture pieces, which are made using the highest quality leather upholstery. The sleek, elegant pieces incorporate functionality with beauty. Amongst their best-selling designs is the DS-600 introduced in 1972. Also known as the Non Stop sofa, it is a sensually curved, snaking modular sofa whose individual pieces can be zipped together to create multiple variations and arcs.
De Sede has collaborated with some of the world's finest design minds, enhancing the prestige and individuality of their products. Designers like Santiago Calatrava, Antonella Scarpitta, Stephan Hürlemann, Gordon Guillaumier and Philippe Malouin have all created pieces with the atelier. Ubald Klug’s 1974 DS-1025, also known as the Terrazza sofa, is an enduring favorite with its cascading levels of leather. In 2017, de Sede expanded its product line to include high-quality leather handbags, which are as thoughtfully designed and beautifully crafted as its furniture. De Sede AG is now part of the Volare Group AG and continues to handcraft its fine furniture and other goods from its factory in Klingnau.

It’s been going on like this forever: ever since our solar system emerged billions of years ago from the so called primordial cloud, the planets – earth included – have been rotating. And thank goodness: if Mother Earth were absolutely immobile, it would be boiling hot on the side facing the sun and icy cold on the other side. As it is, however, we comfortably enjoy our life – sometimes spinning the way DS-262 does as it rises up like a lofty sculpture in the room – but that nevertheless encourages active relaxation, because the range of different sitting postures can be sampled to one’s heart’s content.
