Original finish to Ash frame.
Redone in Boucle'.
J G Furniture was a premium modern furniture company post war who
offered original designer branded forms as well as forms by the popular
mid-century designers. Design licensing was pioneered in courts by Norman Cherner and Knoll. With the Normal Chenrer chair, he was under contract for licensing at the initial launch of the chair. Knoll sued Burke for design patent infringement at the end of the patent cycle. Knoll held a series of patents on the Tulip table which had expired, when Burke began making common forms. One of the patents was filed late, and missed by the Burke company and was still covering the Tulip table when Burke came to market.
It is unclear what design control Finn Juhl had in the market in the 1960s.
It is likely the form was public domain by the time this chair came to market, as J. G. Furniture openly advertised it with their modern lineup.
Note the complex joint construction at armrest.
