Pair of Vintage Armchairs by Móveis Cimo, 1960s, Brazilian Mid-Century

About the Item

These Rosewood Armchairs were produced in the 1960s by the Brazilian company Móveis Cimo, a pioneer in Brazilian furniture industrialization. Cimo's history starts in 1921 with a wood boxes factory, and ended in 1982 as the furniture factory Móveis Cimo S.A. – one of the Brazilian furniture industry's most extended and successful trajectories, once recognized as the largest furniture producer in Latin America. The armchairs are composed of independent solid Rosewood bases and upholstered single-pieced seats and backrests. The wooden structure has a similar design to the Danish armchair by Jorge Zalszupin, designed in 1959 and produced by L'atelier – a great icon of Brazilian furniture design. The gorgeous fabric is 100% Organic Silk with a bespoke striped pattern from our collection Bossa Fabrics, dyed with raw and natural materials using artisanal processes. Cimo was committed to industrialization, carrying out the standardization of products, and facing serial production challenges. In the search for more accessible prices for the popular strata, the company did not abandon the possibility of developing quality products by rationalizing production.
