About the Item

This set of two Mid-Century Modern "Targa" swivel chairs, designed by Weiman for Interlude Home and inspired by Vladimir Kagan, offers a striking blend of ergonomic innovation and timeless style from the USA in the 2000s. Featuring smooth swivel functionality, contoured frames, and likely luxurious upholstery, these chairs reflect Kagan’s signature sculptural flair adapted for contemporary living. Perfect for a living room, office, or collector’s space, this fully restored pair elevates any interior with its mid-century-inspired elegance, appealing to designers and enthusiasts alike. Vladimir Kagan (1927–2016), a visionary American designer, revolutionized Mid-Century Modern furniture with his bold, organic forms. The "Targa" chairs, crafted by Weiman for Interlude Home in the 2000s, pay homage to Kagan’s legacy, blending his iconic sculptural design with modern craftsmanship. Kagan’s collaboration with Weiman began notably through Weiman Preview, formed in 2003 after Weiman acquired Preview Furniture, Inc. This partnership allowed Kagan’s designs to reach broader audiences, with Weiman’s expertise in high-quality upholstery and innovative manufacturing enhancing his sculptural vision. Weiman, an American furniture company with roots in Rockford, Illinois since 1935, established itself as a leader in mid-century modern design with a focus on heirloom-quality craftsmanship. Expanding with a state-of-the-art factory in 1941, Weiman evolved from solid wood pieces to upholstered furniture inspired by cutting-edge design trends. By 1979, it became a subsidiary of Bassett Furniture Industries, and in 2003, the creation of Weiman Preview marked a new era of collaboration with designers like Kagan. Acquired by Interlude Home in 2006, Weiman continues to produce upscale, custom furniture, preserving its legacy of excellence. ---Dimensions--- Width: 34 in / 86.36 cm Depth: 31 in / 78.74 cm Height: 30 in / 76.2 cm Seat Height: 17 in / 43.18 cm Arm Height: 25.5 in / 64.77 cm This architecturally fascinating set of "Targa" lounge chairs is in 100% original, vintage condition and has aged to perfection!
