About the Item

Pair of low-back 'Siegfried' Lounge Chairs in Solid Oak and freshly reupholstered with quality bouclé fabric by Abraham 'Bram' Sprij for 'Sprij Meubelen' Vlaardingen, The Netherlands 1960s Unusual design, with sculptural details and pointy finials creating ‘throne’ like appearance. These are not your average chairs. The honey blond oak used for the frame wonderfully combines with the Bouclé. The chairs are recently re-upholstred and have not been used since then. Fresh fabric. This is a low-back set. Extremely rare. They differ from the high-backs. Less bulky and more elegant as low-backs often are. The oak backrest has other details. If you want something out of the ordinary, no standard Wegner or Guillerme Chambron lounge chairs, but stand out, this is your set. They are in a good vintage condition with normal wear due to age and use. 'Sprij' Meubelen: Abraham Sprij started his workshop in 1932 in Vlaardingen, the Netherlands. Having considerable succes with his ‘Stijlmeubelen’ in solid oak, he later also opened a factory in Klundert. Sprij Meubelen was one of the earliest makers of furniture in solid oak, being a forerunner and visionary in creating a versatile and distinct range of high quality oak furniture in different styles like Guillerme et Chambron (Votre Maison) did in France. Very recognizable.
