About the Item

An exquisite late 19th-century French settee, or canapé, crafted in the grand Louis XVI style and sourced directly from Provence, France. Beautifully hand-crafted from solid wood, the settee features an elegantly curved back frame, adorned with intricately hand-carved decorative detailing around the entire frame. The wood showcases a naturally aged painted patina in warm antique white, with charming distressed areas. The settee has been structurally revised and was reupholstered in France with luxurious dark green velvet, clean-finished with spaced brass nailhead trim. It is supported by eight elegantly tapered, fluted hand-carved legs ending in toupie feet, typical of Louis XVI style. The front legs are further decorated with hand-carved rosettes at the corners. With excellent joinery, craftsmanship, and a classic Louis XVI silhouette, this settee offers a beautiful color combination and timeless elegance. - Origin: Provence, France - Dimensions: W 74" x D 34.5" x H 36.75" ; Seat dimensions: W 60" x D 22.5" x H 16"; Arm height: 24.75" - Condition: Structurally revised, the settee features a painted finish with a naturally aged patina and some distressed areas.
