Early 18th century Italian carved, painted & gilt fireside stool. Raised on later 18th or 19th century hoof feet. Superb old layers of paint, gilding & fabric history (stripped to muslin now & ready to upholster). Multiple 20th century repairs strengthen the stool within the frame. Small apron repair. Back rail another 18th or 19th century restoration. Note the flat back - either intended as a fireside stool or later modified from a chair. 22.5" x 16.5" x 18.5". h.
