About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this rather lovely original early Victorian English oak and embroidered wingback armchair A very early and original wingback armchair, the embroidery is period, these pieces were decorated by elegant Victorian ladies to prove they could keep themselves occupied and not be a nuisance to their husbands, quite crazy by todays standards in any form but still very interesting as a conversation piece In terms of the condition the frame is solid and stabile, the upholstery is period and original, it has some wear areas, some fading and discoloration, nothing you wouldn’t expect from a 160+ year old armchair Dimensions: Height 109.5cm Width 80cm Depth 91.5cm Seat height 45cm This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses. Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
