Early 19th Century Alpine Painted Blanket Chest

About the Item

Antique painted chest Measurements: H. 58 cm - W. 143 cm - D. 61 cm Period: about 1810 Origin: Tyrol Wood: Fir Description: Antique painted chest, in fir wood. The entire surface is decorated with ramages and pendants. These decorations are obtained with a technique similar to that of graffiti: the darker surface color is removed, revealing the original color of the underlying wood, which is lighter, thus obtaining the outlines of the desired decoration. On the front, inside two petrol blue squares, the same neoclassical decorations with garlands, bows and pendants are reproduced, this time in polychrome. Inside, there is still the small flap compartment, useful for supporting the lid once opened and for holding small objects. Restoration information: All work is included in the price Our laboratory guarantees the conservative restoration of each piece of furniture while respecting its integrity. Each piece of furniture is treated to ensure its solidity and hygiene. In particular, the following are carried out: - structural restoration - careful anti-woodworm treatment - cleaning and sanitization of the interior - external finish with natural beeswax - internal finish with shellac (natural alcohol-based varnish) Upon request, we can agree on the desired level of restoration and the customization of the internal layout (clothes rails, shelves, etc.).
