Bookshelf by Sormani for Roche Bobois Green Lacquer and Stained Cherrywood, 1990

About the Item

This sculptural wave-shaped cabinet was designed by Emilio Rossi and produced by Sormani for the prestigious French brand Roche Bobois in Italy in the early 1990s. An exceptional example of postmodern Italian furniture design, the piece is both functional and artistic. The standout feature is its pair of curved pivoting doors, which rotate 180° to reveal or conceal either half of the internal storage space. Depending on how the doors are positioned, the piece transforms visually, echoing the motion of a wave. Structure: Pine green satin lacquered wood Doors & two shelves: Aniegré walnut-stained cherrywood Additional shelves: Clear glass (option to request all-glass shelves) Feet: Hidden, fully adjustable This versatile cabinet can be styled as a bookshelf, sideboard, or sculptural cupboard, making it ideal for living rooms, dining spaces, entryways, or executive offices. Condition: Good condition with light wear consistent with age Provenance: Sormani production for Roche Bobois Origin: Italy, circa 1990 A rare collectible for lovers of Italian postmodernism, Roche Bobois design, and functional art furniture.
