Antique 17th Century German Baroque Inlaid Carved Pine Walnut Wall Cabinet 1680

About the Item

A rare antique 17th century German Baroque carved pine & walnut inlaid wall cabinet, circa 1680. This unusual antique baroque cabinet having a stepped crown with carved 'egg & dart' molding below, the cabinet has twin doors decorated with arched panel surrounded with 'Dutch' ripple molding mounted with a scrolled canopy and corresponding base. The doors are flanked with carved scrolled capitals & bases with a marquetry inlaid diamond lozenge of fruitwood & walnut, this design is repeated in between the doors too. The base of the cabinet has a shaped carved skirt, the doors enclose a single shelf, each door has a pair of hand-forged iron strap hinges and hand-forged engraved iron locks, typical of German locks from the 1600s, both original keys are present. The cabinet provides a substantial amount of storage and mounts to the wall easily, condition is very good, this fine & rare German baroque wall cabinet from the late 1600s is ready to grace your space.

A good antique French baroque carved walnut credence cabinet on stand, circa 1650. The two part cabinet comprising a two door cabinet on stand, the top having a carved & stepped crown, below are a pair of cupboard doors the rectangular panels in relief and carved with a lozenge design to the center, these panels are repeated on the sides. The doors are flanked with a pair of carved winged cherub masks with a carved foliate panel below, a corresponding carved panel is between the doors. The rear of the doors are covered with a mustard colored fabric and can be easily removed, the doors have the original hand cut steel lock and key and the doors enclose a single shelf. The cabinet dates circa 1650 the stand below is from the mid 19th century, circa 1850, the stand having a single drawer carved with a saints head to the center & a carved frieze with arches containing carved acanthus leaf.
