About the Item

This solid oakwood cabinet originates in the German state of North Rhine Westphalia and it dates circa 1720. The cabinet is made in the finest quality watered oak. It is a two-door cabinet with a heavy molding at the top as well as the bottom end. The cabinet originally had a warm brown finish. In the 18th century, a task for the luxurious interior was introduced and oak furniture was heavily taxed. Oak furniture from that period is often painted to avoid this tax. This cabinet has been cleaned from paint, but some residue is still in the wood giving it a very soft coloring. There is also decoration carved in the wood. The cabinet has undergone some work in its lifespan, but it still has its original lock, key, and hinges. All and all a beautiful rural cabinet that breathes history. Dimensions: 198.5 cm high 173.5 cm wide at the hull 207.0 cm wide at the top 54.5 deep at the hull land 69 cm deep at the top.
