About the Item

Antique English Jam Cabinet/cupboard 18th century hand carved oak with brass. This petite 12 inch deep cabinet would be perfect in a hallway, bath, or small nook that needs an accent piece with storage. It also would make a perfect mini bourbon bar for a gentlemen's study. Cabinet comes with a locking mechanism and the key. The finish is dark and rich with a nice waxed patina on the exterior. The interior has two scalloped shelves. It also has a flat base so there are three levels to store things. The piece comes with small cup hooks in the upper hidden inside of cabinet. Found England from a Welsh dealer. Construction and Design: * Oak Wood: The cabinet is made from solid oak, a durable and popular choice for furniture during this period. * Two Doors: It features two doors with elaborate wood carvings, possibly depicting geometric or floral patterns. * Paneling: The doors and the front of the cabinet are paneled, adding to its traditional style. * Hardware: The brass hardware, including hinges and handles, is likely original and adds to the antique charm. Style and Period: * Tudor or Jacobean: The style suggests a Tudor or Jacobean period origin, characterized by robust construction, carved details, and a focus on function. * Usage: This type of cabinet was likely used for storage in homes and could have held various items like linens, dishes, or personal belongings.
