About the Item
The project Q.bo sculture does not intend to recreate the object in a different form but to elevate it to a real sculpture while mantaining the functional part it was create for. No longer furniture but indipendent form able to fill a space and arouse emotions by itself.
This sculpture was originally an entrance cabinet from 1950s. The structure has been completely conserved. The finish is a eco-friendly resin applied by hand with a spatula in two coats. This technique creates a visual and tactile effect and gives a protection from scratches and small bumps. Furthermore the cabinet is cleanable with a damp cloth and is water-repellent.
For reference colours are: Rubin red (RAL 3003), Orange (NCS S 0585-Y40R), Green (NCS S 2020-G401Y), White.
The mirror is antique and shows oxidation on the surface. On the back side is possible to see the authentic wood. In order to ship the item, mirror and cabinet will be disassembled. In the gallery you can see the back side with a steel rod that connects the two parts. The mirror is easy assembled to the cabinet.
Drawer and shuttle can be opened as originally. In the inner side of the cabinet there is the genuine wood from the 1950s.
The wood is in constant motion, cracks and small chinks on the surface are natural and unstoppable parts of the life of this piece.

Q.bo sculture
THE SMALL ITALIAN FURNITURE-SCULPTURE THAT FURNISH
The project Q.bo sculture gives new shapes to small pieces of vintage furniture from the 1950s and 1960s. The purpose of the project is not to recreate the object in a different form but to elevate it to a real sculpture while preserving the functional part it was create for. No longer furniture for living room or kitchen, hall or bedroom, but an indipendent form able to fill a space, tell a story and arouse emotions by itself.
In each piece is possible to follow all the processing phases and all the materials it is made of. Looking the backside of the cabinet, its door and drawer, we still see wood, nails, joints used originally and it is like to step in a 1950s-1960s room. This new resin “dress” and form launches the vintage furniture to our present in a contemporary style.
Q.bo sculture was born from an idea by the architect Marco Padovese, driven by constant experimentation and the desire for express himself.
Marco Padovese, after his artistic education and a degree in architecture, deals with architectural restoration, building and furniture. This new project, Q.bo sculture, develops his artistic journey where the goal is to leave a mark, to create a shape with every probable or improbable tool. He has always hands covered with stains of paint, resins, ink, cement, glue, chalk or whatever he is using to create a cabinet, a paint or a sculpture. He exhibits his works in art galleries and fairs in Florence, Venice, Padua.
Our clients can request to create a cabinet in Q.bo sculture style. The customised project will be followed by the artist together with the buyer. Production lead time is about 9 weeks.
It is not possible to make a copy of a finished cabinet as Q.bo sculture realizes unique pieces.

“..and then, finally, comes the piece that alone describes the project without adding other words.”
The project Q.bo sculture does not intend to recreate the object in a different form but to elevate it to a real sculpture while mantaining the functional part it was create for. No longer furniture but indipendent form able to fill a space and arouse emotions by itself.
This sculpture was born breaking up a night stand from 1950s. The structure has still the original wood as visible on the back of the piece, while in the cut sections a new wood part has been added.
The finish is red, blue and orange resin applied with a spatula in two coats. This technique creates a visual and tactile effect and gives a protection from scratches and small bumps. Furthermore the cabinet is cleanable with a damp cloth and is water-repellent.
The shuttle can be opened as originally but it has been adapted to the new shape. The inside of the cabinet is natural as it shows the authentic wood...
