Cabinet Sculpture Italian Design Contemporary in Wood and Resin coloured
About the Item
The Italian project Q.bo Sculture does not intend to recreate the object in a different form but to elevate it to a real sculpture while mantaining the functional part it was create for. No longer furniture but indipendent form able to fill a space and arouse emotions by itself.
Inspired by surrealism design, this cabinet's new form allows to have a wider support surface compared to the original nightstand. Still the original wood structure is visible on the back side and the inner side of the drawer, while in the cut sections a new plywood has been added. Drawer and shutter can be opened as originally but adapted to the new shape.
The finish is eco-friendly resin colored ochre-gold and red rust. The resin is applied by hand with a spatula in two coats. This technique creates a visual and tactile effect and gives a protection from scratches and small bumps. Furthermore the cabinet is cleanable with a damp cloth and is water-repellent. For the first time in our collection, also the finish of the inside is resin.
The wood is in constant motion, cracks and small chinks on the surface are natural and unstoppable parts of the life of this piece.
In the gallery it is possible to see the original cabinet.
This cabinet-sculpture is one of a kind.

Q.bo sculture
THE SMALL ITALIAN FURNITURE-SCULPTURE THAT FURNISH
The project Q.bo sculture gives new shapes to small pieces of vintage furniture from the 1950s and 1960s. The purpose of the project is not to recreate the object in a different form but to elevate it to a real sculpture while preserving the functional part it was create for. No longer furniture for living room or kitchen, hall or bedroom, but an indipendent form able to fill a space, tell a story and arouse emotions by itself.
In each piece is possible to follow all the processing phases and all the materials it is made of. Looking the backside of the cabinet, its door and drawer, we still see wood, nails, joints used originally and it is like to step in a 1950s-1960s room. This new resin “dress” and form launches the vintage furniture to our present in a contemporary style.
Q.bo sculture was born from an idea by the architect Marco Padovese, driven by constant experimentation and the desire for express himself.
Marco Padovese, after his artistic education and a degree in architecture, deals with architectural restoration, building and furniture. This new project, Q.bo sculture, develops his artistic journey where the goal is to leave a mark, to create a shape with every probable or improbable tool. He has always hands covered with stains of paint, resins, ink, cement, glue, chalk or whatever he is using to create a cabinet, a paint or a sculpture. He exhibits his works in art galleries and fairs in Florence, Venice, Padua.
