21st Century Cabinet-Sculpture Contemporary Italian Design Coloured Wood - Resin
About the Item
The project Q.bo sculture does not intend to recreate the object in a different form but to elevate it to a real sculpture while mantaining the functional part it was create for. No longer furniture but indipendent form able to fill a space and arouse emotions by itself.
This sculpture was born sawing a night stand from 1950s and giving it a completely different life. Thanks to a shelf designed on the sides, we have a new use of the piece as night stand, side table, small console table, etc. The structure has still the original wood as visible on the back of the piece and inside the drawer while in the cut sections a new wood part has been added.
Inspired by fall colours, the finish is a bright brown and orange (almost copper) colored resin applied with a spatula in two coats. This technique creates a visual and tactile effect and gives a protection from scratches and small bumps. Furthermore the cabinet is cleanable with a damp cloth and is water-repellent.
The wood is in constant motion, cracks and small chinks on the surface are natural and unstoppable parts of the life of this piece.

Q.bo sculture
THE SMALL ITALIAN FURNITURE-SCULPTURE THAT FURNISH
The project Q.bo sculture gives new shapes to small pieces of vintage furniture from the 1950s and 1960s. The purpose of the project is not to recreate the object in a different form but to elevate it to a real sculpture while preserving the functional part it was create for. No longer furniture for living room or kitchen, hall or bedroom, but an indipendent form able to fill a space, tell a story and arouse emotions by itself.
In each piece is possible to follow all the processing phases and all the materials it is made of. Looking the backside of the cabinet, its door and drawer, we still see wood, nails, joints used originally and it is like to step in a 1950s-1960s room. This new resin “dress” and form launches the vintage furniture to our present in a contemporary style.
Q.bo sculture was born from an idea by the architect Marco Padovese, driven by constant experimentation and the desire for express himself.
Marco Padovese, after his artistic education and a degree in architecture, deals with architectural restoration, building and furniture. This new project, Q.bo sculture, develops his artistic journey where the goal is to leave a mark, to create a shape with every probable or improbable tool. He has always hands covered with stains of paint, resins, ink, cement, glue, chalk or whatever he is using to create a cabinet, a paint or a sculpture. He exhibits his works in art galleries and fairs in Florence, Venice, Padua.

- 21st Century Designed Stool Teak Wood BrownLocated in Castelo da Maia, PT21st Century Designed Stool Teak Wood Brown The design of the stool uses simple and strong methods of construction, relying on traditional joineries that were used before advanced technology became prevalent in woodworking. An example of this is the deliberately exposed joinery where the legs meet the bottom of the seat, rather than trimming the cylindrical tenons fully into the underside. This is a detail that is typical of traditional woodworking and can be seen in several pieces from the 19th century and early 20th century, including a rare Charles Rennie Mackintosh chair from 1910...Category
