About the Item

Rare and highly legant cartonnier cabinet, crafted around 1780 in France and stamped by the renowned ébéniste Claude-Charles Saunier (1735-1807). This two-door mahogany cabinet stands on tapering legs with gilt-bronze sabots and is topped with a refined white marble slab. The doors and sides are paneled and accented with striking burl veneer. Inside, hinged drawers lined with leather and tapestry provide generous storage space. Delicate brass handles complement the refined design. A remarkable and collectible piece of historical furniture—both highly functional and a superb example of late 18th-century French craftsmanship.
