French Mid-19th Century Louis XVI St. Secrétaire in Arbalette Shape
About the Item
A French mid 19th century Louis XVI st. tulipwood Secretaire. The secretaire has a fine quarter veneered tulipwood marquetry on the front and sides, ornamented with pierced ormolu mounts. The bottom doors open to reveal in interior shelf. The drop front above opens to four smaller drawers and several compartments. The wide writing surface is fitted with a gilt tooled burgundy leather top. Above lays an Orange Varois marble top. All original patina, gilt and ormolu keyhole escutcheons.
