Chinese Ming Dynasty Style Butterfly Cabinet with Carved Spandrels and Doors

$3,200

About

A Chinese Ming Dynasty style wooden butterfly cabinet from the 19th century, with carved spandrels, drawers, doors and dark patina. Born in China during the 19th century, this exquisite coffer called a butterfly cabinet, features a rectangular planked top, sitting above two drawers, each adorned with geometrical motifs and fitted with brass hardware. Two doors below, pierced with lovely floral motifs, open to reveal two inner shelves offering convenient storage. Our eyes are immediately drawn to the carved spandrels that decorate the sides and present pierced motifs and scrolls tapering down the coffer's body and leading us to discover the scalloped apron that visually connects the frontal legs to each other. With its refined décor and dark patina, this Ming Dynasty style butterfly cabinet from the 19th century will be a great focal point in any home, perhaps placed in a living room, foyer or used as a TV cabinet in a bedroom, as an island in a kitchen or vanity in a bathroom.
