Created in China during the Qing Dynasty, this altar coffer features a rectangular top with central board, sitting above two dovetailed drawers fitted with brass hardware on floral backplates. The lower compartment, only accessible through the upper drawers, demonstrates that this coffer was likely a money chest. The façade attracts our attention with its beautifully carved geometric and rosette motifs flanked with scrolling spandrels.
