French 19th Century Empire Style Burl Walnut, Ormolu and Glass Cabinet/Vitrine

About the Item

A handsome and high quality French 19th century Empire st. burl walnut, ormolu and glass cabinet/vitrine. The vitrine is raised by fine bun feet below the straight support decorated with a fine ormolu band which also extends along each side. At the center are two doors retaining their original glass panes framed within a fine burl walnut border, while each side also retains their original glass panes. The doors open to reveal all their original hardware, the original fitted mirror backplate and one glass shelf. Handsome architectural columns lead up each side with striking and richly chased ormolu mounts of open winged eagles above intricately pierced foliate designs. At the apron is a fine decorative ormolu band and two drawers each decorated with fine pierced ormolu keyhole escutcheons of cornucopias and tied berried laurel wreaths. Above is the original rectangular Vert Antique marble top. All original gilt and hardware throughout.
