French 19th Century 1st Empire Period Mahogany, Ormolu And Marble Vitrine

About the Item

A most handsome and large scaled French 19th century 1st Empire Period Mahogany, Ormolu and white Carrara marble Bibliotheque vitrine. The very architectural vitrine is raised by four circular columns with bottom demi lune shaped solid Mahogany bun feet. The columns above have intricately chased Ormolu plinths and capitals. The columns flank the two glass fitted doors with all original Ormolu key hole escutcheons and top to bottom interior locks. The locks are special as they only accept their clover shaped keys. Both interiors with fitted glass doors retain their original adjustable shelves. The two sets of doors flank an open display case with a vaulted shaped Mahogany top front. Above are the three flamed Mahogany drawers which are elegantly decorated by pierced scrolled designed mounts with two elegant and richly chased maidens flanking a lyre. On each side of the drawers and at the top of each column are additional richly chased mounts of females of high power. At the top lays its two original joined white Carrara marbles. This display case is ideal to place a bronze statue, porcelain plates, or vase.
