Japanese Meiji Period Shodana (Display Cabinet)

About the Item

A Large Softwood Ebonised Japanese Meiji Period (1868-1912) Shodana (Display Cabinet) of exhibition quality. Whether to display your items or as bookcase this piece will definitely stand out in any home. This piece is intricately carved throughout and is complemented with blue panels inlaid with ivory and mother of Pearl scenes of flowers and birds. On the top is a carved pediment centred with a carved bird amongst flowers. In the middle of the cabinet is a wonderful carved oriental bridge shelf which connects the upper and lower shelves together. There are two sets of sliding door cupboards and two hinge cupboards on the top and bottom sections of the cabinet, all with uniquely decorated ivory and mother of pearl inlaid panels to the front. Above the base is three drawers each also with unique ivory inlaid panels. Standing proud on an intricately carved base. Ivory Reference Number: 9NSSPR4H
