About the Item

A rare and important Jørgen Berg cabinet-on-stand, model no. 24190, executed by master cabinetmaker William Christensen, Denmark, in the 1960s for luxury Danish department store Illums Boighus, Copenhagen, Denmark. Rosewood-veneered wood, 19 drawers of various sizes, including one with a secret compartment, with 3 brass keys, on a black ebonised wood base with brass shoes. Reverse with retailers' metal label impressed ILLUMS BOLIGHUS/KØBENHAVN. Sold with a copy of the original purchase receipt, dated 8th September 1962.
