18th C. Irish George III Burled Mahogany Bachelor's Chest for Restoration
About the Item
An early chest requiring restoration. With a serpentine case, the top drawer opens to a secretary/ toilette section with a green felt cover, compartments (some with lids), two glass lidded jars, and a center lift up mirror. Over three graduated long drawers, raised on a shaped skirt with splayed feet. Bone keyholes (all stained, two broken). With finely cast brass pulls with urn motifs.
L. 37 1/4", Depth 21", High. 35 1/4"
Condition: Restoration required. Several losses: skirt and lower frame veneers, drawer frame, and right front corner molding, cracks, staining and some spot losses to the finish on the top, please study and enlarge photos. Lacking key.
