ISA Bergamo Chest of Drawers in Stained Oak by Leonardo Fiori, 1950s
About the Item
Italian ISA Bergamo chest of drawers in stained oak by Leonardo Fiori from the 1950s. A very pleasing chest of drawers was designed by the Italian architect Leonardo Fiori, a student of Le Corbusier. We see that Fiori has been influenced to some extent by the great master when we look at the proportions and the result thereof. The four drawers are in harmony with the top and bottom shelves and are decorated by elegant black lacquered metal handles. Next to the drawers is a seagrass door with a darker oak frame. In addition to the aesthetic aspect, the raised edge, or gallery, also has a functional purpose. You can quickly put something on it without it rolling or sliding off the commode. The storage area rests on a wooden frame and gives the whole an airiness. The construction has been made even more robust by the use of brass connectors that we see on the side of the chest of drawers and the frame. A combination of different shades of wood and sea grass results in an appearance of quality and tranquility. This beautiful chest of drawers is in good condition and the condition is fully consistent with age and use. The few light scratches in the wood and a single chip are very special considering the age.
