Exquisitely hand-crafted in France in the late 18th / early 19th century, exceptionally executed in elegant, sophisticated and luxurious King Louis 15th taste, topped with the original rouge red Pyrenees marble top with striking white veining, serpentine-shaped front and molded edge, over a conforming solid wood case fitted with a secret hidden storage compartment and four dovetailed drawers, each with ornate gilt-bronze handles and escutcheons. When you remove the top left drawer, the center panel with faux escutcheon can slide over and reveal a concealed wooden drawer for valuables. Elegantly decorated, the drawer fronts and rounded corner posts adorned with subtle carvings, paneled sides, scalloped apron with hand carved Rocaille shell and scroll motif, rising on short cabriole legs. Late 19th Century Venetian Polychromed Chest/Commode with Marbleized Cartouche Top Measurements: Overall: 31.5" W × 15.5" D × 32" H Fitted with three center drawers, each approx. 17" W × 5" H A charming late 19th-century Venetian polychromed chest of drawers, richly decorated in the Rococo revival taste. The serpentine-fronted commode is topped with a faux-marble painted surface in warm terracotta tones, bordered with a gilt cartouche outline. The bombe-form case is painted in soft sage green with reserves of ochre and gilt scrollwork enclosing floral bouquets of roses, tulips, and garden blooms rendered in delicate polychromy. The three graduated drawers are fitted with cast brass rococo handles, their sinuous foliate forms complementing the painted ornament. The chest is raised on cabriole legs with gilt accents and painted floral sprays at the knees, terminating in scrolled feet.
