American Grain-Painted Corner Cabinet Cupboard, New England, circa 1805
Located in Shippensburg, PA
An incredibly fine one-piece corner cupboard formerly acquired at Sotheby's in 2013 for $ 15,000. The original and beautifully worn surface is incredibly lively with a rich texture in the symmetrical brush strokes with the natural rubbing through the paint from over two-hundred years of gentle handling. It is crafted in one piece from pine primary woods and poplar secondary woods and features a nine-light glazed upper door with beautifully molded astragals that opens with a replaced brass knob to reveal an interior divided with two fixed shelves. The lower portion of the cabinet is missing its knob and opens to reveal the single shelf that evenly divides out the space. And most attractive is the size, which is delightfully diminutive and allows it to be a part of any space without overwhelming the interior. An untouched treasure. Provenance: * Alan McDonough, Dover, Massachusetts * Sotheby's, New York, Important Americana...

Sand Senses Cupboard in Wood by Hillsideout
Located in Milan, IT
The Sand Senses cupboard features materials made with sand and surface that stimulate senses when touched. Sand seems to have no limit. Burnt sand makes the Murano glass transparent. Concrete incorporates more than one type of sand - one comes from the river and the other one has been transformed through a chemical process. Wood is sandblasted and treated with oil-wax to obtain the smoothest surface possible. Geometric shapes can be found in the concrete legs, in the cupboard doors, as well as on the top enriched with openings in colored Murano glass. With its four colorful doors, two drawers and several shelves, this piece turns out to be a very aesthetically pleasing and practical cupboard; representing the perfect solution for both storing and showcase use...

19th Century French Henri II Neoclassical Corner Vitrine ~ Bookcase
Located in Dallas, TX
19th century French Henri II Neoclassical Corner Vitrine ~ Bookcase exudes a stately elegance that will preside over any room! Of unusual design, it is designed for the corner yet presents a fully rounded facade, creating a quarter of a pie shape when viewed from above. Boldly molded crown molding combined with a spindle rail accented with turned urn finials on the corners combine to preside over the upper glazed door, one continuous curved glass pane set in a steel frame, which makes it even moreso unusual. Two sconce style glass shelves inside with finely scrolled supports combine with the single full size pie-shaped glass shelf to create unusual yet wonderful display possibilities. Directly underneath, two drawers emerge like slices of the pie to create additional convenient storage, and the lower section boasts twin cabinet...

Mixed-Media Machine Box
Located in Roma, IT
“Cut & Paste” collection by Kiki van Eijk is based on personality and emotion found within an object. By first making hundreds of sketches, seven final objects have just “appeared” With these diverse references such as wheel, cart, high clock, bird cage, niche, farm, bourgeois, Primitive, complicated, rich, poor, they almost transform into seven curiosities. Each curiosity becomes much more than just an object; it creates it’s own imaginary and personal world; very autonomous. Each object is an assembly of colours, forms and materials such as solid wood, brass, copper, ceramics, textiles, mirror, steel. It represents the joy and importance of “making things” by hand without computers and really “designing by making”. The pieces show Kiki’s big love for materials, experimentation, tactility, research, sketches, context, settings, proportions, curiosities and every-day beauty. The Machine box: a half circular white shiny shape with two little half...
