About the Item

An extraordinary example of American craftsmanship with Art Deco influence! This beautiful credenza was crafted in Virginia circa 1970. The piece is constructed from richly figured burled ash veneer, showcasing dramatic, symmetrical "book-matched" grain patterns across its facade, drawers, and cabinet doors. The top is rendered in a smoother, straighter-grain ash that provides elegant contrast to the rhythmic, organic burled motifs below. The credenza features two upper drawers and three lower cupboard compartments, each with concealed pulls integrated into the sleek vertical and horizontal lines of the design. All doors open to reveal ample interior storage, including fitted shelving. With its clean artistic form, waterfall edges, and richly patterned veneer, this piece exemplifies the American interpretation of Art Deco revival popular in the 1970s, stripped of ornament but rich in materiality!
