About the Item
Mid-Century buffet designed by Michael Taylor for Baker Furniture. This piece was from the Far East Collection (one of his most popular collections). The case is in walnut and the hardware is brass. There are 4 cabinet doors and behind each set of doors there is a long drawer at the top and one adjustable shelf below). It provides great storage.
This "vintage" piece was gently used but it does have some scratches and imperfections consistent with age and use. The brass hardware has some patina.
Michael Taylor's designs for Baker Furniture were characterized by their luxurious materials, generous scale, and a distinctive fusion of East-meets-West aesthetics with a relaxed, Californian sensibility. These pieces remain highly sought after by collectors and designers today.
Michael Taylor (1927-1986) was a highly influential American interior and furniture designer, best known for pioneering the "California Look."
