Sculptural Diamond Faced Credenza / Sideboard With Leather Top, Italy, c. 1970's

About the Item

As rare as it is aesthetically captivating this extraordinary Italian-made credenza is the very epitome of "functional art". Featuring fascinating geometric diamond covered door faces and sides, all covered in a layer of mesmerizing acid-etched polyurethane paint this exquisite brutalist piece is unlike any other we've ever seen. The top, redone in a genuine Italian thick-cut leather hide, adding warmth and continuity with the the high-gloss black polyurethane finish on the drawer faces and base. The acid-etched paint, often referred to as "tortoise shell", makes the diamond-shaped "spikes" even more captivating from every angel. With three drawers and a fixed shelf this artfully crafted piece is as functional as it is visually arresting. Simultaneously seductive and forbidding the combination of the audacious design and utilization of luxurious materials is sure to make a BOLD statement in any space this one-of-a-kind piece inhabits. Ideal for designers and collectors alike this remarkable sideboard can blend seamlessly against a myriad of design backdrops from Brutalist to Modern to Space Age. Make it yours today before it's gone forever and elevate your home's aesthetic to new heights. ---Dimensions--- Width: 65.5 in / 166.37 cm Depth: 18.75 in / 47.63 cm Height: 23.5 in / 59.69 cm This extraordinary Brutalist sideboard has recently undergone an extensive and transformative restoration process and we love the results! The top has been redone in a genuine Italian thick-cut leather hide and shows no inconsistencies other than that of a once living animal (scars, ranch brands etc.). The European walnut frame, base and faces have been painted with top quality automotive single stage, polyurethane paint in a jet-black gloss color. All three drawers open and close with ease as do the hinged doors and the single shelf is fixed. The intricate diamond-shaped faces covered in a spectacular acid-etched polyurethane paint show one small crack (repaired) which can be seen in the detail photos provided as well as other minor signs of vintage wear such as minor nicks and light scratches (the worst of which can be seen in the detail photos provided). Overall this one of a kind credenza is in very good condition and is highly functional, structurally sound and ready for decades more of use. Please view all photos for details on this statement piece's current condition. We're limited on the amount of media we can post so additional photos and videos are available upon request.
