19th Century English Adam Style Painted Satinwood Desk

About the Item

A beautiful example of an English Satinwood rectangular desk in the Adam style with polychrome paint decoration, including a top with a central fan and multiple swags of fruit and flowers with a contrasting mahogany crossbanded border with bellflowers, surmounting a frieze with central bow front drawer with an open shelf below it, flanked by two left fitted drawers and one deep right drawer, all decorated with additional swags, decorative brass pulls, painted side panels, and small carved drops on either side, all supported by four tapered legs with continuing bellflower decoration. The desk dates to the late 19th century and is in very good condition, with minor shrinkage cracks, surface imperfections, and light wear commensurate with age and use.
