French 19th Century Napoleon III Period Ebony and Brass Inlaid Desk

About the Item

An exceptional French 19th century Napoleon III period ebony and brass inlaid desk. The oval shaped desk is raised by elegant slender circular tapered fluted legs with fine ormolu bottom and top caps. Each leg displays lovely topie shaped feet below block rosettes which are connected by a superb curved stretcher with a central floral carved reserve. A most decorative ormolu band extends around the frieze with beautiful fine brass fillets at the central drawers and the sides The top displays wonderfully executed charming inlays of flowers and foliate movements amidst a lattice pattern.
