About the Item

One of a kind and very refined French piece , a Louis XV Bureau à Pente / Secretaire ,made in France at the beginning of the 19th century. Entirely veneered in extraordinary precious wood , which combines its grains to create subtle ornaments. It is very rare for all its sides, including the back, to feature this wood, as it is designed to be seen from all its parts. In addition, it has a high gloss finish, which brings out even more the splendor of its grains. This light desk stands on four galveado legs, all with gilt bronze sablots, although one of them is missing but does not alter his overall vision . On its front it has a register with two handles and a folding writing tray, the bureau itself, with black embossed leather. This discreet folding service front houses four small drawers and more compartments inside, all also veneered wood. All the fittings, including the handles and keyholes, are made of gilt bronze and then chiselled. Light, practical and versatile furniture. The wood has an extraordinary grain with dark tones and violet, brown and gold reflections; this exotic appearance made it perfect for the ornamentation of high-end furniture. The Louis XV style, characterized by its elegance and sophistication, sought refined materials. This kind of refined pieces were a symbol of status and wealth and they were always commissioned by Royalty or Nobility. It is an extremely hard and time-resistant wood, which ensured that the furniture would retain its splendor for generations.
