About the Item

Small French travel secretary Napoleon III in rosewood and boxwood veneer. Rare and extremely decorative antique furniture due to its size and finish. Rosewood veneer (body) and rosewood solid (base) with fine inlays (vase with cornucopias and surrounding ribbon motif- front) and (floral elements with surrounding ribbon - side) in boxwood and maple. Fine thread inlays run along the whole front around the form. underline the shape. The interior is veneered in light burl wood. The base is connected with a turned center piece, the feet run very narrowly towards the front. The elaborate interior has several compartments for letters and 2 fold-out inkwells. The original mustard colored leather inlay is intricately embossed with a surrounding leaf frieze. Der Fuß hat eine Tiefe von 42cm. The furniture will be polished again before shipping and small imperfections will be closed.
