About the Item

Gorgeous sideboard 816 by Alain Richard for Meubles TV, made in France, 1960. This elegant sideboard revisits Art Deco codes through a modern, functionalist lens. Designed in the late 1950s, as postwar prosperity revived a taste for refined interiors, it showcases Richard’s attention to both aesthetics and practicality. Crafted in luxurious Rio rosewood with chrome details, its generous proportions—wider and taller than usual—were conceived to enhance display while offering easy access to storage. Thoughtful details include light oak interiors, lacquered wood and glass fittings, discreet hinges, refined hardware, and custom-made adjustable legs. A quintessential example of mid-century French modernism (1955–1965), this piece blends minimalist elegance with timeless sophistication. Formerly part of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs collections. Fully restored and in excellent condition, with minor signs of age. Slightly darker tone than pictured.
