About the Item
A sensational and most impressive French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ebony and Ormolu Boulle vitrine. This stunning four door vitrine is raised on a rectangular plinth centered by an ornate Ormolu palmette mount and decorated with exquisitely chased rosettes, Brass Boulle marquetry inlays, and a Rai-de-Coeur trimmed border. Above the plinth is the protruding pair of center glass doors flanked by additional doors to each side. All the doors are trimmed with Ormolu egg and dart designs with richly detailed foliate reserves in the corners. The interior of the cabinet reveals eight Boulle inlaid adjustable shelves. The rounded corners of the cabinet continue the Boulle marquetry inlays and are adorned at the top and bottom with intricate foliate accents. The side panels simulate the same design as the central doors, and are centered with spectacular Ormolu floral medallions. The apron continues the Brass inlays between richly chased Ormolu foliate reserves in the corners, and separating the set of doors, below the Ebony top banded on the edges with scrolling designs. All original gilt and glass panes throughout.
