About the Item

A mid-19th century American richly finished armoire in bird’s-eye maple of neoclassic architectural shape and proportions; the cabinet is in three sections framed by ionic pilasters, the middle section features a full length bevelled mirror below a top classical pediment and is flanked by two side cabinets each of which are primarily shelved. The exterior and interior of these sections have moulded inset and framed rectangular panels in bird's eye maple and mahogany respectively . When opened the middle section has a bottom mahogany faced drawer below six mahogany faced sliding shelves. The armoire is a Classic example of late Federal craftsmanship and disassembles into five separate components viz; top and bottom pediments and the three vertical armoire sections.
