About the Item

Two-door wardrobe or hall cabinet from the early 19th century. Rhine-French border region (Rhineland, Moselle region, Flanders). Solidly crafted in oak. Ready for use with a beautiful bleached surface. A classic piece of bourgeois furniture with a timeless design, crafted in the traditional manner. The bleaching of the surface brings out the beautiful texture of the old oak wood and gives the antique wardrobe a modern look. The interior, which was probably renovated in the early 20th century, and the ease with which the wardrobe can be dismantled also guarantee a high degree of functionality. The richly profiled 12-panel body with cornice stands on three tapered feet at the front and concealed block feet at the rear. The two doors are hinged on hand-forged external hinges and can be closed with the original lock and key. Inside there are two drawers and an interior that was added later, consisting of two sections with a clothes rail and shelves. Dimensions Height: 208 cm / 81.88 inch. Width: 187 cm / 73.62 inch. Depth: 57 cm or 67 cm (including headboard) / 22.44 inch or 26.37 inch (including headboard). Interior depth: 52 cm / 20.47 inch. Ready for everyday use, restored condition with slight age-related signs of wear. Interior added later. The old dark surface coating has been removed from the outside of the wood and bleached, so that the natural texture of the old oak wood now shines through unsealed and light in colour. The cabinet can be dismantled into several parts for transport and reassembled with wooden plug connections and wooden dowels.
