About the Item

This painted pine armoire still maintains the quality and details of the original hand-painted finish and date of 1773 along the top cornice. The extensive and elaborate flourishes indicate an investment was made when this armoire was first commissioned and crafted. The four floral panels are framed against a blue and green painted background; now showing the gentle distress of generations of use. The interior is divided with shelves on the right and vertical hanging storage on the left.  The left door is held in place with an interior latch; the right door secures with the original lock and key. This painted two-door armoire has been restored and waxed so it is strong, stable and ready to use. Age related wear include dings, cracks, scratches, age related separations to wood, distress etc. which do not detract from the beauty nor function of this wonderful folk-art find.  Please refer to professional photos for clear understanding of color, condition, and details; photo lighting, individual monitor display and home lighting all impact how item is viewed. Photos are part of item description, please ask questions or request additional photos of specific areas if needed.
