About the Item

Mannerist closet in lacquered walnut, with walnut parts, painted parts, and gold leaf gilded parts. Front with pair of externally bipartite doors, gilded leaf decorations in the scores, internally decorated in tempera with scenes of the annunciation in the panels, circumscribed by gilded leaf decorations. Uprights with tapered gilded columns, base and cap with painted leaf decoration. Double-shelf feet carved with scrolls. Replaced backrest, base bottom, and lock. Tuscany, early 17th century.
