Antique Caucasian Kazak Rug 3'10'' x 7'7''
Located in New York, NY
In circa 1179 a young man who would grow up to be Cinggis Qahan (Ghengis Khan) was aided by the son of the Chieftain of the Arulat clan. The young man was Bo'orcu. He became one of Cinggis Qahan's Dorben Kulu'ud (Great Warriors). In the Yuan ch'ao pi-shih, Quatrain 205, it is recorded that later in life Cinggis Qahan said "Let Bo'orcu govern the ten thousand of the right hand which take the Altai as pillow." In other words the Qahan gave a proto-tribal unit to a key general. The Lu of Bo'orculu as coming from the same root as the Mongol term Ulus which means the land, animals, and people, that a that an IL or tribal group controls. These people became known as the Bo'orculu or people of Bo'orcu. Over the years Bo'orculu becomes Borchalu. So if Ford is correct and I believe he is that the Borchalu are Mongol than they must be descended from the Horde of Bo'orcu. The Sultanate of Borchali was located in the southeastern part of Georgia and in the eastern part of today's Turkey. At the beginning of the 18th century, Borchali was vassal of the Khanate of Ganja and in 1736 was ceded by Persian Emperor Nadir Shah...

Antique Kazak Rug Pink and Blue Geometric Tribal Pattern
Located in Long Island City, NY
Hand knotted in wool originating from Turkey circa 1910-1920, this antique rug is among the more intriguing Kazak tribal rugs added to our collections with atypical colorway variations like that of this inviting emphasis of pink. An atypically employed colorway among both traditional and transitional Kazak rugs, the natural complement of the light pink hue to the richer red, orange, and blue hues offers a sense of movement and control denoting the rarity and design appeal of this piece; particularly well suited to entryway and hallway projects. A welcome addition to the Antique & Vintage rug collection from Rug & Kilim. About the Collection: Antique rugs have been in Josh’s resume since he began in the industry almost 40 years ago when he was already recognized for one of the largest oriental rug collections in the United States. Each piece in the internationally recognized volume was hand picked for rarity, and of course aesthetic and beauty, now complementing one of the widest varieties of Persian rug and Turkish rug collections with the utmost attention to individuality and care. Because of Josh’s position in the wholesale rug industry he’s been responsible for promoting a number of collections throughout history, from breathtaking signature Tabriz, Sultanabad, Kerman Lavar, Agra, and Oushak classics to the more unsung jewels of the luxury industry. Vintage has also been synonymous with who we are since our beginning, particularly for our unparalleled Kilim collection, but with the rise of Mid Century collection the term vintage carpet has become very popular—especially exciting because often times many of the vintage carpets have also been treated, washed, dyed over, sheared, and modified—and has created a very successful category. We’re especially very proud of our vintage Kilims and Turkish rugs curated for our expansive collection of both area rugs and runners...
