About the Item
An attractive and most elegant French late 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated, Giltwood, and Breche Rouge marble center table. This impressive rectangular single drawer console is raised by four square tapered legs and supported on topie shaped feet. Each patinated leg contains rosette carvings at the base, spiral ribbon designs up each side, draping acanthus leaves, and connected by a stunning 'X' stretcher with a central rosette reserve. The straight front apron contains rosettes on each side and is tastefully decorated with two interlocking patterned panels that flank the central drawer. The central drawer contains an array of wonderful Giltwood rosettes and scrolling acanthus leaves. The side aprons are decorated similarly with their interlocking patterns and rosettes on each corner. This lovely piece is finished with a amazingly mottled edged Breche Rouge marble top.
