About the Item
A striking and most decorative French 19th century Louis XVI st. Giltwood and Gris St. Anne marble center table. This rectangular shaped center table is raised by eight most unique circular fluted tapered fluted legs with beautifully carved berried chandelles and draping acanthus leaves at the top capitals. Each leg is connected by an exceptional pierced square and arched stretcher with carved spiraling designs. This uniquely decorated stretcher contains a central reserve of an urn of prosperity and two outer reserves of Giltwood acorns. The straight apron displays fluted designs and berried chandelles with a beaded and Coeur-de-Rai edge above. Atop each leg is a protruding square panel that matches the shape of the top. The Gris St. Anne marble top follows the shape of the table and has a fine mottled edge.
