Russian Malachite and Silver Table by Imperial Silversmiths the Grachev Brothers

About the Item

Russian malachite and silver table by Imperial silversmiths the Grachev Brothers Russian, 1884 Measures: Height 85cm, width 113cm, depth 63cm This beautiful silver table was manufactured by the Grachev Brothers, who were important makers within the Russian Imperial Court in the late 19th century. The Russian Imperial Court commissioned works, such as this, that employed only the finest materials and craftsmen in their production. The design of the table is quite exceptional in the way it brings together Russian Imperial forms with features of Neoclassicism, which continued to be highly popular in Europe. This table is a historic, as well as beautiful, piece, which is mounted with the symbols of the Russian state, including the two-headed Imperial Eagle and Cossack warrior heads. The silver body of the table is wonderfully offset by the bright green color of the malachite top, which is a later addition. It is an all-round masterpiece, which will make a well-appointed addition to any well-curated collection or luxury interior.
