Artisan Ceramic Mosaic Coffee Table with Chrome Base by Pia Manu, 1970s
About the Item
Striking Pia Manu coffee table with inset ceramic tile mosaic top in neutral tones with beautiful textures and pops of crimson on chrome base. This colorful ceramic table was made by Jules Dewaele at his Pia Manu (meaning "a creative hand") workshop. Early in the 1960s, Dewaele began working with ceramic materials, and soon developed a penchant for trying out novel glazing and firing process combinations. This table, from the mid 60's, shows how successful his efforts were. It's unique ceramic tiles with embedded reliefs on the table create a striking mosaic design. In original condition with wear consistent with age and use.
